Sign Language

Every week, our older preschoolers participate in a sign language class presented by Out of the Hands of Babes. American Sign Language is taught and compliments the current themes that the children are learning about. Learning sign language reinforces early literacy concepts and has been shown to improve vocabulary among hearing students. Sign language offers children another way of communicating and gives them an understanding that not everyone is the same, and that is not bad or worse — just different.
